Uganda, here I come!

Allow me to tell you a little more about my upcoming trip to Uganda!  This particular trip is going to be mainly a construction trip in which our team will be working together to build either staff housing for the teachers and medical personnel or a house for a mother and children within one of the Watoto communities.

We will be flying into the capital city of Kampala where we will be greeted by Watoto staff who will take us to a Watoto compound for our first night.  The next day we will travel 7 hours by bus to the Gulu region in northern Uganda – this is the area where Kony and his rebels from the LRA (lords resistance army) were located for many years.   Gulu will be our base for the bulk of the trip.  We will be staying in a hotel and each morning we will travel about 1 hour into a remote area where the newest children’s village is located – the village of Laminedaria.  This is where we will be building.  During our time there we will also be given the opportunity to interact with some of the women and children, attend a worship service in one of the Watoto churches, visit baby Watoto, and some of the other ministries the Watoto church runs.  As our time comes to an end we will be traveling the 7 hours back to Kampala where we will spend our last night before flying home.

The trip is scheduled July 10-21 and will cost approximately $3,000 which needs to be raised by May.  This is where you come in!  I need people to help make this trip possible and to partner with me in the work God is doing in Uganda through Watoto.  I am so excited to see and be a part of this amazing ministry and hoping it may even open some doors for future involvement!  If you feel God leading you to partner with me financially there are two options:

1.     The easiest and most efficient option is online giving.   You can click on the link below which will take you to the Global Hope page of my church’s website.  Once there, click on the "online giving site" link and follow these instructions:
  •      Select "Raleigh" as location and "Mission Trip Support" as the fund. Enter your amount and check "One Time Donation"
  •      Check the "In memory/honor of" box
  •      In the "First Name" field enter the traveler's full name (Amanda Vogel)
  •      In the "Last Name" field enter trip location and travel date (Uganda, July 2013)                                                                All donations must be made via debit card and are tax deductible.  If more funds are raised than needed, the excessive funds will be used for other mission endeavors at Global Hope’s discretion and there will be no refunds in the unforeseen event that I cannot go on the trip or the trip is cancelled.  http://www.gethope.net/global-hope/give

2.     You may also write a check.  Make it out to Hope Community Church w/ my name in the memo and July Uganda trip and mail it to me at 105 Ribbon Lane Apartment N, Cary, NC 27518.

Thank you so much for sharing with me in this adventure, may God receive the glory!
